Alloy
Thermo-Sorter (ATS) Model ATS 6044T, makes alloy
sorting and identification an easy to perform
test. The
low cost A TS-6044T is lightweight, rugged and
portable. It is designed and engineered to be
used for alloy classification in a demanding
industrial environment, i.e., material storage
yards and storage racks, incoming inspection,
in-Iine QC and for use in metallurgical laboratories
The ATS-6044T operates from AC or from a self-contained
rechargeable battery. A fully charged battery
will operate the instrument for approximately
eight hours. Since part size or geometry is
not critical, the ATS-6044T can be used to identify
or sort alloys ranging in size from fine wire
to large girders with a single probe. This completely
non-destructive test is based on the known thermoelectric
principle (Seebeck effect) and can be used on
precision bearings without damage to the surface.
The fast, predictable and reproducible test
results are easily read from the digital panel
meter.
A scientifically designed dual-tipped probe
makes one handed operation convenient and practical.
The standard probe, supplied with a gold hot
tip, is appropriate for applications requiring
prolonged testing and for separating or classifying
some super alloys. Other available hot tips
may be recommended for special sorting applications.
In addition, the system has been engineered
for simplicity of operation and does not require
frequent adjustment or calibration. Available
accessories include two sets of fiftyfour or
forty-four certified metal reference coupons
which are used for expanded alloy identifications.
The ATS-6044T
includes a second LCD readout whicn displays
the operating temperature of the ATS probe.
This feature is intended as a strict control
source and visual verification of probe operating
temperature. Repeatability can be more accurately
controlled when the related probe temperature
values are known and duplicated during subsequent
testing.
